About us
Ray was born and raised in New Jersey. His father was a mechanic, his uncle was a mechanic, and many other family members work in some kind of automotive profession. Ray came to Holland, Michigan and started at Hope College in 1988 with the aspirations of becoming a scientist, or an engineer or something else that involved a desk and keeping the hands clean. But it was not meant to be. Living on limited funds and having some car problems led Ray to lift the hood and tinker around, trying to fix it himself. A good friend offered his warm garage, some tools, and helpful advice to get Ray back on the road again.
Before long, Ray decided that he really enjoyed the automotive field and decided to find work at an auto parts store. He also began to work on cars in the driveway of his apartment. From these opportunities Ray received enough training and experience to start work at a repair shop in 1998. Frustrated by the pressures to get the work done fast for people he never met, Ray decided to start his own auto repair business in 2001. Starting with friends and neighbors, he began to service the cars and trucks of people who knew and trusted him. By word of mouth referrals, Ray's satisfied customers have brought in enough business to keep Ray busy year round without any formal advertising. Ray is Michigan State and ASE certified.
Ray met his wife Shannon at Hope College and they were married in 1995. They have a son, Benjamin, born in 2007, and a daughter, Jenoah, born in 2008. Ray operates his business from home where he can be close to the family.
